Yio Chu Kang Sports Hall, Thursday, March 10, 2009 - Cedar Girls’ Secondary defeated Yuying Secondary 63-60 in a hard-fought match to win the B Division South Zone Basketball Championship title.
The match started with Cedar taking the early lead. Goh Wan Jun (#5) contributed eight of the 23 points in the first quarter for Cedar, while the Yuying Tan Li Ying (#11) , Chia Pei Sze (#12) and Tan Ee Ni (#13) put together 14 points.
Leading 23-14 at the start of the second quarter, Cedar turned over the ball enough times to allow Yuying to narrow their lead to just one point by half-time.
An exciting third quarter saw Yuying pull themselves into the lead. But it proved short-lived as Cedar responded. In the last few seconds, both teams were tied 46-46 with Jia Yan (Yuying #8) tying it up with a free throw.
Unexpectedly, with about 5 seconds remaining, Goh Wan Jun (Cedar, #5) scored a 3-pointer to put Cedar back in front at 49-46.
Cedar managed to maintain their lead throughout the last quarter despite Yuying breathing down their necks to finish off the game 63-60 winners.

You would think that they world have OK’d it at the beginning instead of allowing it to go so long without saying a thing and then bringing it back up when it was too late. I don’t understand it at all. ProExtender
