Singapore, March 26, 2009 – Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced a major Cabinet reshuffle today, and among the changes is a new portfolio for Teo Ser Luck, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Community Development, Youth and Sports, and Transport.
From 31 May 2009, Mr Teo will be appointed as Mayor of the North East Community Development Council. The current mayor is Mr Zainul Abidin Rasheed. Mr Teo will continue with his existing positions.
Mr Teo, who is a Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, was promoted to Senior Parliamentary Secretary a year ago. He joined MCYS in May 2006 and has focused primarily on the sports portfolio. He chaired the Sporting Culture Committee, which reviewed and put forward recommendations to strengthen and transform Singapore's sporting culture. He is also credited for playing a key role in steering Singapore to a historic win to host the inaugural YOG in 2010.
