Raffles Junior College Indoor Hall, Wednesday, April 29, 2009 - The Meridian Junior College (MJC) girls floorball team cruised to an easy 7-0 win over their counterparts from Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) who were comprehensively outclassed from start to finish.

The victory keeps MJC squarely in the hunt for a second successive title, maintaining their 100% start to the season and confirming their status as one of the A Division floorball powerhouses.

MJC started brightly, putting constant pressure on ACJC with Stephanie (MJC #10) being a constant thorn in her opponent's defence. Their early pressure paid off as Stephanie capitalised on a fortuitous rebound off a shot from Wei Jia (#14), sweeping a thunderbolt past the ACJC ´keeper.

Barely two minutes later, MJC were 2-0 up as Bao Xian (#23) hit a long in-swinging shot from the halfway line, bulging the bottom right corner of ACJC's net. The rout continued as Lee Peng (MJC #81) unleashed a left-flank piledriver which the ACJC ´keeper spilled into her net, before striking a sweet shot into the top left corner, leaving the ACJC ´keeper beating the floor in frustration.

With ACJC on the ropes, their #1 had to be alert to parry a rocket from the ever-dangerous Stephanie, but could do nothing to stop Lee Peng’s hat-trick after a goalmouth scramble as MJC were five to the good.

The game as a meaningful contest was over by this point, with MJC constantly camped in their opponents' half, with ACJC struggling to make a decent foray forward, never mind muster a shot on goal.

The second period started as the first had ended, with ACJC giving MJC lots of space to roam. Taking advantage of a casual clearance by the normally well-drilled MJC defence, ACJC #7 surged forward to muscle possession of the ball and feed it to ACJC #18, but was unfortunately crowded out in the end.

Despite ACJC #18's best efforts to drag her side back into the game, an infringement by an ACJC defender resulted in Yunjie (MJC #15) calmly slotting home the resulting penalty.

A seventh goal by Tabitha (MJC #7) in the dying minutes of the second period merely confirmed MJC's dominance over ACJC, who were outclassed for long periods in the match.

Unfortunately, no fightback was forthcoming for ACJC, who spent the final third of the match enduring a barrage of potshots, particularly from Lee Peng, intent on adding to her already impressive haul. In the end, the 7-0 scoreline was a fair reflection of the one-sided nature of the match as MJC systematically took apart ACJC time and time again.
