Kallang Netball Centre, Friday, May 8, 2009 – Anglo-Chinese Junior College and Raffles Institution remain unbeaten in the A Division Netball Championship, with no team coming close enough to threaten their campaign.
In Group X, Pioneer Junior College and Serangoon Junior College were no match for the favourites, Hwa Chong Institution and ACJC. ACJC trounced Pioneer JC 79-19 and beat Serangoon JC 61-48. In the crucial match to decide first place, ACJC cruised past Hwa Chong Institution 75-44 to top the group.
Hwa Chong Institution entered the semi-finals as the runners-up after they thrashed Pioneer JC and Serangoon JC 64-25 and 72-32 respectively.
In Group Y, Raffles Institution showed no mercy, and limited their opponents to less than 30 points to wrap up first place in the group. RI toppled Temasek JC 58-18, thrashed Anderson JC 63-19 and handed St Andrew’s JC a 62-26 defeat.
Despite being unable to overcome the defending champions, St Andrew’s JC had an easy time taking on Temasek and Anderson, and beat them 59-32 and 56-33 respectively to take a spot in the semi-finals.
There, they will take on Anglo-Chinese JC, while Raffles Institution will face Hwa Chong Institution.
The semi-finals will be played at Hougang Sports Hall on Wednesday, 12 May from 3.20pm onwards, and the final at Bedok Sports Hall on Friday, 15 May at 2.30pm.
