Anglican High School, Saturday, July 4, 2009 – Japan won the gold medal at the Asian Youth Games girls’ FIBA 33 Basketball competition after staging an upset 33-32 win over China.

China leapt to a great start, but it was Japan who dominated the Chinese in the second period and held on to their lead until the last minute. Nagaoka Moeko then displayed nerves of steel as she sunk the two final free throws to give Japan the FIBA 33 gold medal!
