Siloso Beach, Sentosa, Thursday, July 2, 2009 – Two Republic of Singapore Air Force Puma helicopters flew low over Siloso Beach during the Asian Youth Games (AYG) Beach Volleyball competition.
It was just before the start of the beach volleyball game between Singapore and Kyrgyzstan in the girls’ category.
The helicopters inexplicably flew very close to the hotel and some guests came out to watch them from their hotel room balconies.
Maybe it’s the RSAF’s way of adding buzz to the AYG beach volleyball event.

On two occasions, it flew so close to the hotel, we half-expected to see troops rappel to the ground. Maybe it was helping the hotel dry out the bed linen. (Photo 4 © Les Tan/Red Sports)
Reccee for Ex North Star 7. I think troops will really be rappelling to the ground on thurs. Check out the straits times.
@Cephas David: Yeah, one of the Red crew found out what it was. But hey, we got the pic before straits times : ) But man, seeing it up close and live, quite interesting. never seen a copter so close to the hotel. thought it was a hostage situation for one second.
I’m no aviation expert but Photo 4 looks downright dangerous. And what IS that stuff flying around behind the ‘copter??
maybe they were there to see the beach vball girls! 😛
