Thailand, August 5, 2009 – Day 3 at the Thailand Sports School games saw the Singapore Sports School winning 7 more gold medals in Swimming to take their overall medal tally to 17, four more than their nearest rival Suphanburi Sports School.

The swimmers continued to face strong opposition from Suphanburi, Angthong and Bangkok Sports School. The swimmers also won 7 Silvers and 5 Bronzes in the competition. The most memorable race for the spectators was in the 4X100m Freestyle Relay for U14. Anchor swimmer Koh Jun Wei plunged into the pool 8 body lengths behind his opponent from Suphanburi Sports School but he overhauled the leader and set a personal best time to bring home the final gold.

Tomorrow is the last day for the swimming competition.

Sports School paddlers started the day with the news that the organizers had conferred the gold medal on the Under-16 girls team. In the singles competition, Sports School have qualified for 3 singles finals which will be played on the 8th of August. Tomorrow, the doubles competition begins.

In Krabi, the U14 Sports School golfing boys began well and are currently in first place in the team event. In the individual competition, Hadi is currently in first place shooting a 79. In second place is Qi Wen who shot a 84.

The Under U16 team are currently in second place in the team event with Edgar and Nicklaus both shooting a 83 in the competition. In the U18 boys, our team is currently also in 2nd place with Nicholas Lim and Princeton both hitting 85s in the competition.

While the U14 team look good to win the team and individual gold medals, the U16 and U18 boys have a big challenge on their hands against their Thai opponents. Because of illness, the U16 girls have pulled out of the competition.

Tomorrow, Sports School netballers take on Nakhonsawan Sports School at 10.30am while the football boys play Nakhonsithammarat at 4pm.
