Kualar Lumpur, August 20, 2009 - After sterling performances in their earlier matches, Singapore fell to ATM (Malaysian Armed Forces) 0-3 in the 47th Tun Abdul Razak Cup Division 2 final.

Singapore beat Selangor in the semi-final to set up a second meeting with ATM. Previously, Singapore had drawn 4-4 with ATM in the group stages.

ATM’s Zulkifli Abdullah started the scoring streak in the 23rd minute before a goal in the 39th minute by Ahmad Riduan doubled ATM’s lead. Captain Hanip Che Halim finished off the game with a third goal in the final few minutes to give ATM the win.

According to an online report by Malaysian Newspaper Malay Mail (Singapore never stood a chances; Friday, August 21, 2009), ATM’s tactician K. Rajan was quoted as saying that Singapore never stood a chance against his team.

He mentioned that the draw in his team’s earlier encounter was due to first match jitters. He was also confident from the start that ATM would win the final, and it was only about how wide the eventual scoreline would be, noting that Singapore couldn't match ATM in any area as his team were a class above them in speed, fitness and team work.
