Very shifty offshore winds made for some very tricky sailing on Day 4 of the 2009 Byte CII World Championship race in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. However the Singapore sailors handled it pretty well.

Asian Youth Games gold medalist and Youth Olympic squad sailor Darren Choy continued his good form and put in another great performance to lead the fleet with 39 points.

Youth Olympic Squad sailor Terence Choo failed to close the gap and remains in second position at 54 points. It remains to be seen which of the two Singaporean boys will take the gold medal tomorrow. Chai Xun rounds up the third spot with 64 points.

Asian Youth Games silver medalist and Youth Olympic squad sailor Najwa Jumali on the other hand is guaranteed of the gold medal for the girls' category at 68 points. She has the chance to get the overall bronze medal should she continue to sail as well as she had been doing this week.

Singapore's first Byte world sailing title was won by Calvin Lim in 2004. Elizabeth Yin and Nicholas de Cruz continued the winning streak with medals in 2006 while Valerie Chia won the female title in 2007.

The regatta will end tomorrow, August 27.
