SingTel have beaten out the the bid from StarHub for the English Premier League broadcast rights. SingTel will air the EPL from August 2010.

What Singtel did really make me hate them!
I would never subscribe to Singtel.
I think its ridiculous that Singtel is taking not only champions league but EPL now?like one isnt bad enough.If they think by having these two leagues under them will draw customers to subscribe to them.i think otherwise.Starhub has way more better channels and football addicts can just go to pubs or coffeshops that subscribe to MIO TV.Everything was just fine before MIO TV came about.I agree, something has to be done.This is really annoying!
This signals the end of Sports TV subscription for me. After this season, I’ll probably stop subscribing. This situation will keep repeating itself in cycles of 3 years (with us tied to contracts) and the only one losing is the customers. Kopitiam/Fan Club for the WIN!
I think seriously we should look into having these on both cable TV. These exclusive rights where they bid ridiculously high price and then pass on the cost to consumer sucks big time.
They may try sweeten the deal with promos and say no contract but those who are stuck with contract on the other side just mean more money. Sad day for TV in singapore.
I think singapore market is too small for this silly competition. Competition mantra they are chanting is a shame, we end up paying more, some who needed their fix will end up subscribing both.
I think we should not take this lying down. We petition for both to be shown on any of the cable tv or we boycott both (some will resort to other means to watch) then they all lose lose.
oh here we go again. wonder how starhub is going to survive with this now. sports always appeared to be their cash cow. low market growth, high (well, total, actually) market share. thing is, reading the statement from singtel, i just can’t see how prices will remain competitive. like SKH said, good luck to us all.

Better to stay with them than switch to Mio.
They are still showing EPL till 2010, afterwhich who knows what happens to EPL in future and SingTel just paid a sum higher than Starhub for it. Stupid right…
Better switch to other means like mobile Internet TV et… to watch EPL that go to SingTel. Returned my MIO as it is clumsy and always hangs. when Internet is down, all is down including MIO phone and TV. Goodluck to Football watcher!
Paying more to grab EPL from Starhub is stupid. Mio TV sucks. I think StarHub will still have other means to broadcast. Stay tuned.
