Welcome to the live blog of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) game between the Singapore Slingers and Satria Muda BritAma of Indonesia.

Yupp thats right Kai. Btw, I am Koh Yizhe. I’ll be bringing you the score updates as well as the lineups of the team. I’ll also give you an analysis of the match and the some key stats.

satria muda are tied for third place in the ABL standings, with 5 points from a 2-1 record. they got off to a opening game loss to the philippine patriots and bounced back with a 3 point win against the thailand tigers and a crushing 91-67 victory over the KL dragons

the slingers, meanwhile, are tied for first place with the barracudas. the slingers, of course, have played a game lesser. their 3-0 record means they are the only unbeaten team in the league so far

they opened their campaign with a huge win against the brunei barracudas before ekeing out 5 and 2 point wins over the patriots and barracudas respectively

satria muda have won their only game on the road so far, and are hoping to add to that. theo little and alex hartman have been the forefront of the many good things the team has done so far, and are ably assisted by filipino point guard bajar as well as locals faisal julius, rony gunawan and christian sitepu

for the slingers, mike leblanc is leading the league in scoring, jeffers in rebounds and vergara in 3-point shooting accuracy. just 3 weapons in their array of arsenal that awaits the visitors today.

the local players dont fill the stat sheets but have made known their defensive intensity.

Desmond is starting once again! Along side the four foreigners.

about 3 minutes to tip off. the key matchups today will be jeffers v little, hartman v leblanc and bajar v vergara

theo little, despite his name, isnt little at all. he stands at 2.08m which is 2 cm taller than jeffers. his numbers suggests that he’s a force on the offensive boards and i’d ike to think so too. jeffers, on the other hand, leads the league in defensive rebounding. so you;ve got an intriuging matchup right there

the flamboyant hartman can score from way outside or drive in for the layup. leblanc, too, as well.

and the position of the point man is an all-important one. he controls the tempo, pace and calls all the plays.

leblanc misses the inside layup , but jeffers steals a pass meant for little

desmond travels inside the lane as he looked for a teammate, bajar with the ball now.

but comes back on the other end and plays excellent D on sondakh who’s forced to take the contested shot

desmond makes the three! the slingers are rocking now.

Desmond has been the spark for the Slingers in the match so far. Of course Leblanc is doing a great job as well, but Satria Muda have to do something about Desmond.

the slingers are making their shots early, and are making their opponents pay for not guarding the perimeter. their transition defence, as well, needs some work.

jeffers picks up his 2nd foul, and has to sit now

Little isn’t playing up to his usual standards. He has to step up to the plate if Satria stands any chance of winning this match.

marcus comes in flying to deny the entry pass and nearly lands on the slinger girls!

bajar drains the 3, and cuts the lead to 7. 16-9

pathman was hacked on the play just as the shot clock buzzer went off. he will now head to the line for 2 freebies

he makes both, slingers lead 18-9 with 2:48 to play in the first period

sondakh drives in for the uncontested layup.18-11

leblanc makes the layup, and hartman is hacked on the other end. 20-11 slingers, and they will take a timeout now

jeffers has regularly been in foul trouble in the slingers’ 3 games, but it’s marcus who leads the team in fouls per game. about 4.7. remember, a player fouls out after 5

Steven has to work on his ball handling! Two mistakes already in the space of a minute. Fortunately for him Satria Muda couldn’t take advantage.

Slingers look set to go into the second period doubling the score of the BritAmas, 5 seconds to go!

a very productive first quarter for the slingers. they lead 30-14, and will look to secure the game and not let the BritAmas back into it.

the slingers are shooting 11/16 from the field for a 69% line, while satria muda are a dismal 4/15, including some easy misses from under the basket

the 2nd period is underway, and jeffers cleans up on steven’s blocked shot. 32-14

Top scorers for the Slingers: Jeffers and LeBlanc are tie with 12 points each while Wei Jian is just two behind at 10.

wei jian’s earlier long range bomb was actually a 2, which made the score 39-17. but of course, that was eons ago

For Satria Muda, Alex Hartman is the driving force behind with 13 points.

Let’s see if Slingers will suffer with Al Vergara out for the rest of the match. Wei Long will also have to step up as well. A brilliant opportunity for the young man.

@Deana – Vergara is out of today’s game, not sure how long he will be out for. I guess it depends on the rehab program. He has done his knee before.

Slingers American imports appear to be a class above the other American imports, but perhaps thats to do with the good support they get from the locals.

Yeah but the BritAmas are just having such a bad game I’d say, one of those days, they’d have to be really positive to turn it around.

if britama can get the lead down to 10+, they could make a run for it. slingers have to buckle down and ensure that does not happen
