Singapore Basketball Centre, Wednesday, November 11, 2009 – Hwa Chong Institution thought they had won the game when they opened up a 54-47 lead against Prestige Associate Sports Club with one minute to go but Prestige Associate Sports Club were not about to give up the fight.

Having lost earlier to Whye Nam (White), the boys from Prestige were facing a do-or-die quest to qualify for the second round.

Amazingly, they managed to pull to within a point at 53-54 before Hwa Chong hurriedly called a time-out.

In the end, Prestige could not hold their nerves and went down 53-56 to Hwa Chong Institution in heartbreaking fashion.

Both teams were playing in the Milo Youth U15 Basketball Championship held from 9 November to 12 December which saw a record 54 teams participate in both the boys and girls categories.

Amidst the drama that unfolded between closely competitive teams, there were some ridiculously lopsided scores as well.

One cannot help but feel sorry for Team RV, who were at the end of a 111-6 beating by Home United. Ahmad Ibrahim Sec girls also lost by a whopping 149-6 to the Hawks.

I suppose that in such cases, it is the participation that counts.
