National University of Singapore, Friday, January 8, 2010 – The Singapore Management University (SMU) soundly beat Ngee Ann Polytechnic 53-37 on the third day of the Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) Netball Championship.
The SMU team had a seven-point lead by the end of first quarter and maintained their edge until the third quarter when NP pushed backand threatened briefly. However, SMU rallied in the fourth quarter to regain control to finish the game comfortable winners.
NP struggled in defense, giving SMU too many opportunities to make easy long passes during the match to net quick points.
Captain of the NP team, Wenqi, opined that SMU’s defense was too physical at times, but was nevertheless satisfied with her team’s efforts despite their defeat.
