National University of Singapore Sports and Recreation Complex, Tuesday 12 January 2010 – Singapore Polytechnic (SP) maintained their perfect win-loss record with a 6-2 victory over Singapore Management University (SMU) in the NUS-Great Eastern Water Polo Challenge (ladies event).
Water polo is still a relatively new sport for the girls and SP captain Melissa Wong, a Year 3 student, shared that this was the team’s “first official competition”. The team was formed in July 2009.
“We did not do as well as expected… But we came into the competition to gain more experience,” she added.
The ladies’ team trains with the school’s men’s team and is made up of swimmers and lifeguards. Their training has focused more on ball handling and the tactical aspects of the game.
SP will next face co-leaders National University of Singapore on Saturday, 16 January 2010 while SMU will face Nanyang Technological University on Tuesday, 19 January 2010.

Isn’t Eunice Fu from NTU?!! Why is she playing for SMU???
Hi!
I am an undergrad in NIE and am currently undertaking a module on Sociology of Sports. I am interested in doing a background research on the women’s water polo movement in Singapore, its history and its vision.
Is there anyone who can direct me to the people who may inject me with the information that I need.
Thank you!
Regards,
Jabbar
Hi Jabbar,
You might want to contact the NUS water polo team directly and they’ll be able to get you in touch with the right folks. I think if you google for their webpage you should find it. I can’t remember the site off the top of my head.
cheers
