Anglo-Chinese Junior College, March 2, 2010 - Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) thrashed Regent Secondary 90-0 in a preliminary round group game of the B Division Rugby Championship.
The score hit 80-0 at the 28th-minute mark but the referee decided not to invoke the mercy rule until the half ended.
ACS(BR) drew first blood when Jae Yeob (#22) scored the first try. ACS(BR) dominated the game, giving Regent no chance to be in control of the game.
The first scrum took place 15 minutes into game play and Regent finally gained possession of the ball. However, the ACS(BR) boys quickly tackled the player and the ACS(BR) #1 scored with a successful conversion.
With Regent no match for ACS(BR), the ACS(BR) #11 finally put the game to bed when he outran the Regent defenders and smashed the ball on the try line to invoke the mercy rule at 80-0.
"It was a good win and a good match to prepare us for the next game against Raffles Institution," said ACS(BR)’s captain, Wesley. "The game was intense and we played well."
The captain of Regent Secondary, Hasan Bin Rosli (#1), agreed that it was an intense game. He commented, "The game was a big challenge to us. We faced a hard opponent but the team gave their all."
ACS(BR) will play arch-rivals Raffles Institution on Friday, March 5.

Regent, this is the type of attitude that stops us from being a team. Of all the comments i have read barker, didn’t say anything. They won gracefully. But what about us? We lost and you still want to behave like 9 year old kids. This is also why I am reluctant to come and train with a bunch of 5 year old girls. This is the reason why we never excel in the sport. Lose with grace.
