Presbyterian High defeat Jurong in National B Division Girls Volleyball

Presbyterian High School, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 - Presbyterian High defeated Jurong Secondary 2-0 (25-22, 25-19) to top Group B at the National B Division Girls Volleyball Championship.

Both teams started the game close, with only a marginal score gap separating the two. With the score leveled at 7-7. Jurong pushed forward and took a three point lead. It did not stand long as Presbyterian High quickly leveled the score once again, and another time at the 16-16 mark.

Jurong were having difficulty reproducing their performance from the early half of the set. They were committing several unforced errors, which allowed Presbyterian High to lead 23-21. Jurong served the ball out for Presbyterian High to reach set point. Presbyterian High sealed the set when they stuffed out a spike from Jurong.

A net touch by Jurong saw the first point go to Presbyterian High. A lightly hit spike by Zi Qing (Jurong #8) saw Jurong take the next point. Jurong were trying their best to take the set, and kept the score close.

Presbyterian High managed to break free at the 13-12 mark, and surged forth to a 20-13 lead. Jurong were unfazed by the score gap and continued their chase. After a spike out of bounds by Zi Qing (Jurong #8), all seemed lost as Presbyterian High led 23-15. However, a net touch, and a bad block by Presbyterian High kept Jurong in the game.

Estella (Presbyterian High #18) spiked the ball into the net at the next rally for Jurong to take another point. A time out was called by Presbyterian High, and upon resumption, Presbyterian High saw themselves at match point after Jurong was unable to rescue a blocked shot.

Cynthia (Jurong #11) held off Presbyterian High's win with her spike from the outside. However, Zi Qing (Jurong #8) served the ball out, for Presbyterian High to take the match.
