Chua Chu Kang students enjoy Nike Elite Training Live football

Chua Chu Kang Secondary, Saturday, March 13, 2010 – 14-year-old football fan Hakim of Chua Chu Kang Secondary got his first look at the Nike T90 Laser III football boots this weekend.

He was one of 80 lucky students from Chua Chu Kang, ranging from 13 to 17 years old, who were selected to take part in the Nike Elite Training Live session.

"I learnt how to communicate with others and also develop teamwork," said Hakim. " Most importantly I got the chance to try out the new boots!"

"The boots is very comfortable," when quizzed about about the T90 Laser III boots. "The material inside is softer than other boots, thus it made me feel lighter and run faster while I'm on the ball."

"I find that I can shoot with more accuracy with the boots!" Hakim added.

The training session, being the second of a three-part series, was focused on developing Master Accuracy for the participants. The first part was focused on Master Control, where Nike also held similar Elite Training Live sessions with other selected schools.

In the two-hour training session, they had the opportunity to try out the new T90 Laser III boots which are donned by football players Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres. Besides that, they had to go through a series of accuracy drills leaded by former Singapore international Nazri Nasir and his team of established coaches who have coached at the school levels and national age-group levels.

The T90 Laser III boots, being the third generation of the Laser series, was comprehensively redesigned from its predecessors and possess a more dynamic cleat designed to improve accuracy and power. The fins, made from thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) materials, aims to enhance players' touch and control.

The two-part accuracy drills saw the participants go through sets of drills devised by various coaches from famous Italian Serie A club Juventus as well as the Torres Challenge, a series of drills designed by Liverpool striker Fernando Torres to train speed, touch and accuracy.

Points were recorded for both categories and the winners won prizes like wallets, shoe bags and autographed balls by Nazri Nasir.

"This training session is a big challenge for these players as these drills are something that they haven't trained in before," explained Nazri Nasir, the head coach for the training session. "What I hope to see at the end of the day is that these players have not only enjoyed the session but also learnt something new from it."

"The boots are very good," Nazri said on the usefulness of the new T90 Laser III boots. "As long as you master the right technique, it will give you the power and accuracy in your shooting."
