Serangoon Junior College, Monday, March 22, 2010 – A total of three goals were scored in Group C action on the opening day of the 2010 National A Division Football Championship, and all of them were scored by Serangoon Junior College (SRJC).
Cheered on by home support, they beat NUS High 3-0 with goals by Vizshnu Mohan, Cheah Wenbin and Jay Zhou. By far the better side on the field, the SRJC players will surely rue their spurned chances today should the battle for qualification come down to goal difference.
The earlier game at the same venue between favourites Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) and Jurong Junior College ended in a goalless draw. ACJC, who made the top four last year and impressed with a 4-1 win over Home United U-18 in pre-season training, had plenty of possession but were unable to translate their superiority into goals. They will look to do better in their next game on the 25th of March against Serangoon Junior College.
In another Group C game, Raffles Institution (RI) opened their campaign with a 1-0 win over Nanyang Junior College. RI will next play JJC on March 25th at SRJC.
Meanwhile in Group A, defending champions Victoria Junior College thrashed Anglo-Chinese School (International) 16-0 to open their campaign on a high with Dilip Thapa and Khairul Anwar scoring four goals each. Alfred Ali also chipped in a hat-trick.
Temasek Junior College played out a 1-1 draw with Dunman High in the other Group A game played at VJC on the same day.

SR just beat ACJC 2-0 today. A brace by Vizshnu.
dear mike,
NUS High is not in the same group at vjc. please check the fixtures. VJC is in group A and NUS High is in group C.
SR was far the better side, but NUSHS only let in 3 out of countless tries. so kudos to NUSHS’s defence.
His full name DILIP THAPA
Thanks for Dilip’s full name. Story updated.
The referee probably had a problem recording who scored the 16 goals.
I fear for NUS High when they meet VJC, who had just thrashed ACS(International) 16-0.
The Red Crew thanks you for the compliments. : )
VJC DILIP 4 GOALS!
@vj: what is Dilip’s full name?
Good job redsports in providing a platform for a wide range of school sports!
Sadly to say with the YOG coming up you would hope that SG would give a more coverage to our local youths in the lead-up to the YOG.. But nothing has changed, except for this site to grow bigger and better!
Does anyone know who the scorers are for the 16 VJC goals? Surely, there must have been at least a few hat-tricks. 😉
Can anyone provide the team lists for SRJC, NUS High, ACJC, RI, JJC, NYJC, VJC?
We would like it in the following format:
full name (jersey #)
This is to allow us to identify you in our photos. Thanks.
