Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Tuesday, April 6, 2010 - Ranjitha d/o Raja of Juying Secondary posted the fastest qualifying time in the B Division Girls’ 1500m Heats at the 51st National Inter-School Track & Field Championships. The Asian Youth Games athlete clocked a time of 5 minutes 15.58 seconds.
Victoria Tan of the Singapore Chinese Girls' School was second fastest, as she was hot on Ranjitha's heels throughout the entire race. She came in with a time of 5 minutes 19.06 seconds. Hannah Lau of Cedar Girls' was third fastest in qualifying with a time of 5 minutes 33.96 seconds.
It was a close encounter in the second heat as Charisse Ee of the Singapore Sports School made a surge in the final 100m to overtake leaders Winsy Li of CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ and Romaine Soh of Cedar Girls’ Secondary. Charisse was caught in the pack in the first two laps, but eventually overtook the others to finish first.
The final will be held on Friday, April 9th, at 8.55am.
