Old Police Academy, Wednesday, April 7, 2010 - Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) beat St Joseph's Institution 62-0 with 10 unanswered tries in a semi-final of the National B Division Rugby Championship.
This was the seventh straight win for ACS(I) and they will now face St Andrew’s Secondary in the final on Monday, April 12th.
Timothy Kan (ACS(I) #3) got the scoring going with the first try and James Morgan (ACS(I) #8) converted. With swift yet calculated passing, ACS(I) went on a scoring streak and had a comfortable 36-0 lead over SJI by half-time.
Even with the impressive first half, ACS(I) kept the foot on the pedal in the second. Even though SJI managed to get near the try line in the second half on some occasions, they were repelled by the ACS(I) defence.
A last converted try by the ACS(I) #13 handed SJI a 62-0 defeat.
"We started well because we knew that they (SJI) were a good team. We had the ability but we cannot just expect to win," said ACS(I) captain James Morgan.
When asked about the Saints’ confidence to win the final, the modest ACS(I) captain replied, "We would not say that we would definitely beat them because, in rugby, anything can happen. We would play our best and hope for the best. If we don't show up, then they (SAS) would win. If we show up, they would have to show that they have what it takes to beat us."
The final will take place at the Old Police Academy on Monday, April 12th, 2010 at 4.30pm.
