Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Thursday, April 8, 2010 - Sakinah Muslimah Bte Johar of Singapore Sports School registered a new Girls’ C Division Triple Jump record with a distance of 11.32 metres at the 51st National Inter-School Track & Field Championships.
The previous record was 11.11m set in 2006 by Nurul Jannah, who was also from the Sports School. This is the second record that Sakinah has under her belt after toppling the C Division Girls’ Long Jump mark last year.
Wendy Neo Hui Ting of St. Nicholas Girls' School and Tan Xin Yi of Cedar Girls' Secondary took second and third position with a distance of 10.32m and 9.83m respectively.
In the B Division Boys’ Triple Jump, Shashi Kumar Hazra of St. Joseph's Institution moved up one position from last year to take gold this time with a distance of 13.36m. Joseph Leonard Sebastian Jr of St. Patrick's School had to settle for silver, losing out by a mere two centimetres, while Muhd Zulfadhil B Zulkipli of Victoria School claimed the bronze medal.
Cedar Girls' Secondary School dominated the top two positions in the B Division Girls’ Javelin with Lenis Phoa Chien and Tai Shi Xian winning the gold and silver medal with distances of 32.30m and 29.58m respectively. Crystal Chiang of St. Nicholas Girls' School prevented Cedar from sweeping the medals after coming in third with a distance of 27.99m.
