SAFRA Yishun, April 17-18, 2010 – Some of the best youth sport climbing enthusiasts gathered at SAFRA Yishun over the weekend to pit their agility and speed at this year's National Schools Sport Climbing Championship. For the first time, the division champions will be selected to represent Singapore in the Asian Youth Cup to be held in Indonesia later this year.
Jointly organised by the Singapore Mountaineering Federation and SAFRA Adventure Sports Centre, the first leg of the competition kicked off at 9am in the morning with 184 students from 17 secondary schools and junior colleges competing in eight categories.
Xinmin Secondary School showed its prowess in the Difficulty category by clinching top spot in both the C Division male and female events. Loyang Secondary School took the lead in the B Division female event.
In the Speed category, last year's overall school champion, Outram Secondary School, dominated the B Division male and female events, while Tampines Junior College and Victoria Junior College came in first in the A Division male and female events, respectively.
