Singapore singer JJ Lin wrote a cheer song for the upcoming Youth Olympic Games and it is now receiving airtime on free-to-air television. For those who haven’t heard it yet, here it is.
The YOG will start on August 14th.
This cheer was commissioned by the Singapore Sports Council for Team Singapore. It was not produced by the YOG organising committee.
The YOG has its own official song. (Click here)

If you like this song, you are either a 3 year old or have the sophistication of one.
And stop saying if you don’t like it, go make your own song. If there was a nationwide invitation to propose a cheer in the first place, we wouldn’t be having this discussion. And then again, without the overwhelming negative response, there is no way in hell the sports council would take suggestions from unknown singaporeans. Now it has no choice.
COMMENT EDITED FOR NAME CALLING
Its utter crap, it sucks, it’s lame and it’s pukey. Sorry, but that’s the truth, and I KNOW Singapore is capable of better. We’ve had so many great tunes before. Whoever approved this tune obviously doesn’t know what it means to motivate and cheer. This song (I just can’t call it a cheer) was poorly chosen and should have been thrown out the window and not seen the light of day, let alone gone on air. Sorry SSC, but I think your money was not well spent on this number. Even Yong Wei’s spoof is a zillion times better (and he’s not even getting paid for it)!
It’s just a cheer for team singapore and suppose to be catchy and easy to sing along. The YOG song is not by JJ. Go check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfXOysuoUoI
Help!!!!I cringed everytime I hear Oh Yeah Oh Yeah. It is unpleasant to hear and irritating. Reminds me of being defiance and aggressive in an argument. Try Ba Ba Black Sheep… it sounds much more pleasant. Oh yeah Oh Yeah …Yucks!
we should be proud.Come on,we are Singaporeans. So stop saying its shit.Otherwise just get up and sing.It is made easy to sing so even kids(like me) no how 2 sing it too.
Why didn’t the YOG committee review the songs first or have they? If so the YOG Committee must wake up. There is no uhm, it is not inspirational ini machiam primary school cheers.
Sad. Very Sad.
This is not the official YOG song.
This JJ Lin cheer song was commissioned by the SSC to support Team Singapore.
It has received more air play than the official YOG song called “Everyone” because SSC bought a lot of media while SYOGOC hasn’t. At least, none that I can tell.
This is one of the things that truly make me ashamed to call myself Singaporean. This is the Youth Olympic Games, for goodness sake, and it is going to be seen the world over. Do we really want this ridiculous ditty to be the defining feature of this inaugural event?
The roads are also somewhat less safe with drivers scrambling to change the radio station every time this comes on…
This song keep giving me nightmare!!!
This cheer is catchy n cute. My classmates kept singing it. Support JJ forever!
Honestly, I think the rhythm of the cheer song itself is very catchy (JJ Lin did a good job)..but the lyrics could have been a bit more meaningful than just keep repeating oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah..the actions & gestures that went with the song totally pulled down the overall standard of the song. It looks meaningless & idiotic.
agree with u only that part which u said JJ did a good job.
Whoever wrote this kiddy song: Shame On You!
No Punch at all, What Cheer? What “Yeah Yeah Yeah”?
Child’s Play!
Just take a look at the latest Shakira’s Waka Waka song for World Cup! So “Powerful”.
yes!! waka Waka initially is not that nice but after a few times of listening . it is getting stronger and powerful ! we need more talents like this to make up proud!
OMG..
This ad as been on TV for a while and makes me feel really quite sad for this country. I was have a meal the other night and heard a group of tourists laughing about how bad it is.
Who allows this type of thing to happen… Oh that’s right the board of SSC….the inner circle does it again.
I wonder who invented the one word, malay swear word “cheer” you sometimes hear at national stadium soccer games. You know, the one with the drumming and cursing..
Now THATS a catchy. Maybe we can implement that as a national cheer. *kidding. :P*
Oh well, if only it were less vulgar. The JJ Lin cheer is not that nice, im afraid..
pathetic.
this is youth olympics. not a kids olympics.
ugly logo, clashing colours, and now this silly song. im genuinely embarrassed.
we have alot of talented song writers. are they too busy for this? 🙁 Lol
This is really wth
Having legends like C. Kunalan & Ang Peng Siong to appear in the video is inspirational, however, asking them to do those particiapte, is downright embarrassing.. Sorry..
*asking them to participate
Yeah, the world is watching Singapore and this is what they get to see. The first EVER youth olympics, I actually swallowed vomit watching it!
what did we do wrong to deserve something like this? just when we got the worlds attention, we put up shit like this. i dont blame the westerners for mocking asians. we seem to find ourselves doing stupid things like this.
I must say, I strongly believe that Singapore(ans) can really come up with something better than this. Let’s just say it is a rushed job that has obviously not be properly thought out.
If I am not wrong, they’ll be teaching this song/dance to a quite a number of students at the Youth Sports Conference next week for delegates of the conference to teach their respective schools!
Sounds & look bad. Don’t think can be any worst ! Silly!
The hand actions aren’t very intuitive (but then again, I’m not quite youth!) I thought the song itself was quite catchy.
I pity the people who are going to teach this lol.
