Singapore, June 17, 2010 — adidas takes the 2010 World Cup fever up a few notches by launching the adidas ‘F50 adizero Light Speed Challenge’, where participants will have to dribble past superstars such as “The Spark – Lionel Messi”, “The Blaze – David Villa”, “The Link – Steven Pienaar” and “The Bomber – Diego Forlan”, to score a goal in the fastest time possible to win big! The Challenge will take place over a fun-filled weekend event along with other exciting adidas-organised activities at the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza on 26th and 27th June 2010 from 12pm to 6pm.

Building on the theme of ‘speed’, the key product attribute of the recently launched adidas F50 adizero boots, the aim of the game is superfast football. Participants will be able to don the coveted F50 adizero boots provided by adidas and dribble the much talked-about World Cup ball, the “Jabulani”, around the superstar ‘players’ for the chance to be Singapore ‘fastest’!

The Challenge is divided into an Under-18 category for students and a Men’s Open event. Winners in these categories, who are part of their school’s football teams, will win an adidas football apparel sponsorship for their team and have adidas kit out their entire team! (Up to 18 sets of apparel, redeemable only from Dec 2010 onwards) Interested students have to register at www.adidas.com.sg/f50registration.

For the Open category, the fastest participant of the Challenge will receive a pair of F50 adizero boots, adidas Federation Jersey, the official 2010 World Cup ball, “Jabulani”, a Sony PS3 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa game and cash prizes! Interested participants in the Open category need only to turn up on the event day of the 26th and 27th of June.

Everybody who participates in the Challenge is a winner – anyone who completes the challenge under a certain time will receive a limited edition adidas Federation Jersey bag while ALL participants will receive a $20 voucher to purchase the F50 adizero boots at GOAL @ 313 for the weekend of the event.

Event attendees can also look forward celebrating World Cup fever with:
— Demonstrations by local professional football team, Albirex Niigata and exciting face-offs by freestyle ball jugglers
— Showcase of the 11 historical adidas Official Match Balls from 1970 to the current World Cup
— Chance to try out the popular FIFA Online 2 game in the Gaming Zone
— Chances to win limited edition adidas 2010 World Cup merchandise
