Kuala Lumpur, Saturday, July 17, 2010 — Singapore’s Meagan Lim came home first in a time of 1:02.93 in the 100m butterfly, seeing off the challenge of Sarisa Suwannachet (1:03.89) of Thailand and Hii Siew Siew (1:04.02) of Malaysia.
Eugene Tan (24.52) and Charles Tan (24.53) picked up silver and bronze respectively in the 50m freestyle final that was won by Kittapat Sricharoenboon (24.29) of Thailand.
Teo Zhen Ren (16:25.72) also managed a silver for Singapore in the 1500m freestyle final won by Thailand’s Panyawee Sontana in 16:10.22. Zhen Ren also won a bronze in the 400m freestyle final a day earlier with a 4:08:34 timing.
The 400m medley quartet of Daniel Tan, Ren Guan Ji, Dzulhaili Bin Mohd Kamal and Lim Ching Hwang also put another silver in the Singapore column with a 4:00.27 finish. The relay final was won by Indonesia in 3:57.45.
In the 200m individual medley final a day earlier on Friday, Jeremy Kevin Matthews won bronze for Singapore in a time of 2:11:34. Kittapat Sricharoenboon of Thailand was first in 2:08:12. Jeremy also added a silver to his collection with a 2:09:97 in the 200m backstroke.
In the same event for girls, Meagan Lim also picked up a bronze for her 2:24:83 effort behind Thailand’s Sarisa Suwannachet who won gold in 2:21:86. Meagan also won a bronze in the 200m butterfly final in a time of 2:20:03.
Natasha-Lin Low also added a bronze in the 100m breastroke in 1:16:55 while Ren Guan Ji won bronze in the 100m breastroke in 1:07:85.
Singapore have 1 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze so far and lie fourth on the swimming table behind Indonesia (7 gold-6 silver-3 bronze), Thailand (7-6-2) and Malaysia (5-4-8). Today is the final day for the swimming competition.
