Republic Polytechnic, Monday, July 19, 2010 — Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) have a 100% record in the 2010 POL-ITE Floorball Championship after their first three games played in both the men’s and women’s categories.

Men’s Category
NYP followed up previous wins against Singapore Polytechnic (SP) (10-6) and Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) (3-1) by beating Temasek Polytechnic (TP) 4-2 to pick up their third successive victory. That result meant they currently top the table with a perfect 3-0 win-loss record.

On second are hosts Republic Polytechnic (RP) after their 6-4 and 6-3 wins over NP and SP respectively.

TP, SP and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) make up the chasing pack. SP picked up their first win in four games after a thrilling 6-5 victory over NP, while ITE have only played a game so far with the match ending in a 8-1 victory over SP.

NP are stranded at the bottom of the table after the 5-6 defeat against SP. They currently have zero points after suffering losses in all four games played so far.

The next fixtures scheduled on Wednesday, July 21, will see RP take on TP while NP take on ITE.

Women’s Category
NYP continued their good form by thrashing TP 9-1. Prior to that, they beat SP with an identical scoreline and also picked up a 6-2 win over NP. They currently top the table with a perfect 3-0 win-loss record.

NYP captain Nur Annisa Bte Rahim was keen to play down the ‘favourites’ tag for her team.

“ITE lost to SP, so we cannot be complacent to say that we are the favourites and we’ll win,” Annisa said. “We still have to face RP and ITE in our remaining games.”

“We finished third last year, so we expect a better finish this time round, probably finishing in second or first position,” she added.

On second are hosts RP after their 8-3 and 6-0 wins over NP and SP respectively for a perfect 2-0 record.

As for NP, they picked up their second win in four games after a 3-0 win over SP to improve to 2-2. Their previous victory came in a 6-2 win against TP.

SP have a 1-4 record, their only victory came in a memorable 1-0 win over ITE.

TP and ITE are currently winless. TP have played two games so far which they lost to NP and NYP 2-6 and 1-9 respectively. Meanwhile ITE’s only match so far ended in that shock 0-1 defeat against SP.

The next fixtures scheduled on Wednesday, July 21nd, will see RP take on TP while NP take on ITE.
