“It was a tiring match,” said Burnley manager Brian Laws after the game. “But it was certainly a delight to score so many goals and to see the players looking sharp just two and half weeks into our pre-season training.”
“The first half was a tight one,” elaborated Laws. “But once we scored, we managed to take control of the game. However Gombak gave us a good workout.”
“We had a tough time acclimatising to the weather over here,” he said when quizzed about the difference of climate. “But today’s rain certainly made it more British-like for my players. Some players lost six pounds in training and i think they lost a few more today!”
Meanwhile Gombak vice-captain Bah Mamadou reflected on a good runout for his team.
“Of course the pace and intensity of the game is different (from the S.League),” he said. “However I am happy about my team’s performance, especially in the first half.”
However he lamented the huge scoreline.
“The first goal looked like an offside position,” he commented. “For the penalty I conceded, I’m not sure but I do not think it was a penalty. I was in front of the striker and I had to protect the ball. When the guy fell, the referee say penalty so I really don’t know.”
Gombak now turn their attentions back to their S.League campaign where they are currently fifth in the table and will take on second-placed Tampines Rovers on Wednesday, 28th July.
Meanwhile Burnley will take on another S.League side, Home United, on Thursday, July 22nd at the same venue.

I think it had to be played behind closed doors (although Burnley fans could apply for tickets) because of issues about Burnley’s shirt sponsor, Fun88.
I believe the fixture against Home at the same venue is the same although next week’s game against a Singapore Olympic/National squad XI is possibly a pay to watch match
the game was played behind closed doors
ahh the stadium look rather empty. they shld haf played their first game in our kallang stadium for its last ever match
Hi pok guy,
