Sengkang Hockey Stadium, Tuesday, August 17, 2010 — The Singapore boys’ hockey team failed to match up to Australia as they were outclassed 8-1 by the 2009 Junior World Championship second runners-up.
Australia’s Oscar Wookey helped himself to a hat-trick by the end of the first half for his team to lead 5-0. Australia then added another three goals in the second half to complete the rout.
Singapore managed to salvage a consolation goal through Mohd Haseef Salim with five minutes remaining in the game.
Singapore’s next match is against Belgium at the same venue tomorrow, August 18th, at 8:30pm.
