Bishan Sports Hall, Tuesday, August 17, 2010 — Singaporean gymnast Rachel Giam finished 34th out of a field of 42 in the qualification round for artistic gymnastics Individual All-Around competition, scoring a total of 45.850 points for the balance beam, vault, uneven bars and floor exercise.
Rachel did relatively well in the balance beam event, coming in 29th among her competitors, but her highest scoring event was the vault where she scored 12.650.
Viktoria Komova from Russia did the best in the qualifications, scoring a total of 61.000, and topping each event except for the balance beam, where she came in second.
China’s Tan Sixin qualified in second place with a score of 58.100, bettering Komova in the balance beam. Italian Carlotta Ferlito rounded up the top three with a score of 55.750.
The top eight finishers for each event will move on to their respective event final, while the top 18 overall finishers will compete in the All-Around final on Thursday, August 19th.

#7. The name for that move is a split ring leap (it’s likely to be a switch split ring leap), not an aerial split. 🙂
