India, Wednesday, October 6, 2010 — Shooters Gai Bin and Nigel Lim added a silver and bronze respectively to Singapore’s medal tally in the 50m Pistol event.
A lane change because of a technical problem threw Nigel off and he eventually finished with 644.7 points (90-92-94-94-92-89). India’s Omkar Singh won the gold with 653.6 while Gai Bin amassed 649.6 (93-94-89-91 97-94).
Nigel and Gai Bin had teamed up to win the gold in the 50m Pistol pairs final on Tuesday.
Said Nigel: “I wished I had shot better. I knew that I needed to maintain and be consistent in order to be in the running for a medal. But I am glad that both Gai Bin and myself will be on the podium representing Singapore later.”
As for Gai Bin, the shooter felt his inconsistency cost him a gold.
“I am very happy to have won a silver for Singapore but I am still disappointed because I was inconsistent at times. If I was a bit more consistent, the silver could have been a gold. Still, I am looking forward to the 10m air pistol pairs tomorrow and hopefully, my partnership with Nigel will continue to be a winning combination.”
