Singapore, Tuesday, October 12, 2010 — The OCBC Cycle Singapore will feature a professional night race for the first time next year. The professional Criterium will take place under floodlights along a new 1.7km route around the F1 Pit Building. The event is scheduled for March 4th to 6th, 2011.
It will be one of the first televised night cycling races in the Asia Pacific and will feature 65 top professionals from around the world, including members of the OCBC Cycling Team.
The event will also feature other categories for the public. The Nissan Challenge (40km) is open to more experienced riders aged 16 years and above and The Super Challenge (60km) is for serious amateur riders who will need to qualify for the race. There will also be a Community Ride (20km) available.
To encourage more spectators to support the professional Criterium races, there will also be a live music festival that will feature local musicians and bands.
9,000 took part this year and organisers expect a significant increase in participants for next year.
