Singapore, Wednesday, January 12, 2010 — Two Commonwealth Games Gold Medallists, both coming off the back of glory in this week’s Australia Road National Championships, have been confirmed as starters for the Professional Night Criterium in this year’s OCBC Cycle Singapore.

Jack Bobridge, 21, and Cameron Meyer, 23, both from the Garmin-Cervelo team, are regarded as two of Australia’s top cycling talents and will undoubtedly be headline acts when the third instalment of OCBC Cycle Singapore takes place on 4-6 March, 2011.

Bobridge was crowned Australia’s elite men’s road race champion on Sunday, just the latest in a string of successes for the hugely talented South Australian which include track gold medals at the World Championships and Commonwealth Games in 2010.

He also enjoyed international success in his junior career, having clinched victory in the U23 men’s Time Trial at the 2009 UCI Road World Championships in Switzerland.

Bobridge also raced in Tuesday’s Time Trial at the Australia Road National Championships finishing in second place, 13 seconds behind Meyer who successfully defended his Time Trial crown on his 23rd birthday.

The Time Trial win was the ideal start to 2011 for Meyer who is able to reflect on an absolutely stellar season last year. The Western Australian had a scintillating 2010 in which he claimed three world titles and three Commonwealth Games gold medals on the track.

The Meyer name will also be familiar to those who watched last year’s OCBC Cycle Singapore as Cameron’s brother, Travis, took part in the Professional Criterium.

The new Professional Night Criterium is shaping up to be an absolutely fantastic race and will be hotly contested with such a quality line-up of international cyclists.”

The Professional Night Criterium is scheduled to start at 8pm on Saturday, 5 March and will take place under floodlights along a new 1.7km route around the F1 Pit Building.

Along with Bobridge and Meyer, the race will include 65 of the world’s top professional cyclists including members of the OCBC Singapore Cycling team.

More confirmed starters for the Professional Night Criterium will be announced in the coming weeks.
