In the semi-finals, RI came up against Peicai Secondary and won 73-64.
“This is our first title since 2001,” said RI captain Alex Loh. “Last year, we finished fourth (in the zone). Our defense is our strong point.”
“The team is equal and everyone can play. Our subs are our key players,” added teammate Baokun.
When asked to rate the top four at national level, Alex highlighed Presbyterian High, Unity Secondary, Dunman Secondary and Anglican High.
RI, Gan Eng Seng, Peicai and Catholic High now proceed to the national championship round.
For Catholic High, who finished fourth in the zone this year, this is a mini revival as they failed to make the nationals last year.
“We were not a team at all two years ago,” shared Catholic High captain Vincent Lim. “We finally found ourselves as a team because we train more, bond more and understand each other.” Vincent added that Catholic High are missing three key players because of injuries.

Hi Les,
Good to see the Redsport site still active and giving good forum to followers of school sports.
Correcting a factual error. RI B Boys were NOT zone champions in 2001. Can’t be sure if they won or loss..but they were in the zone finals against GESS in 2002.
