CCAB, Friday, 18 March, 2011 – Unity Secondary centre Delvin Goh led his West Zone all-star team to a comfortable 48-41 victory over the East Zone team. The East Zone team had no answer to the height of the West Zone team, which also included Jurong Secondary’s centre Chun Wang Xuan. Both stand at more than 1.9m tall.
In the third and fourth placing for boys, the North Zone team outscored the South Zone team 52-31 for the third place.
Yet the results did not matter much as the participants had fun playing with others from rival schools within their zones. Also, all the participants were hoping to impress the selection committee for a place in this year’s Asean School Games team as well as the Singapore Schools team.
The Asean School Games U18 team will be playing against regional powerhouses such as Philippines and Malaysian from 1-7 July while the Singapore Schools team will participate in the Milo U17 Youth Cup to be held in June.
i am here to just voice my opinion aight, the truth hurts.sometimes u gotta ask yourself y singapore’s bball standard is so low after all these times.
So what if Singapore’s basketball standard is low? Does it even bothers you? It seems that you are not a Singaporean so please come to Singapore soon, I look forward to see your great basketball skills and maybe give us a good advice on how to improve our low standard of basketball. But I just hope that you are someone that is experienced in playing basketball and not just a nobody. =)
lol ur the very definition of a sore loser, instead of accepting the truth, you choose to say,”so what if we sucked?”,look if you ever heard of the ncaa, watch out for it,if i lead my school to the championship,i will mention this little conversation I have with you when I talk to the media. If you learn biology, you should perhaps know that there’s no difference in a human’s physical ability,be it black, white or yellow.I am not gonna comment any further,I just hope Singapore youth players will train harder,I sincerely hope that some of the nation’s leading players be sent to play overseas,Delvin is merely using his height against all these shorter players but pit him against players his height and he would be killed on the court.I am not trying to say he is not talented in basketball,I am just sayin Singapore should send their “better” players overseas and see where they ranked in the international stage. For example,if you watch basketball, can any Singapore players even make it to college basketball in the united states?Enough said. This is my PERSONAL opinion.Delvin is still young,he has the talent(height, wingspan). He may play for slingers one day if he stays in sg but if Singapore choose to send him abroad(e.g. states),he may be able to 1 day play in the NCAA which is just 1 small step lower than the NBA.
HAHA!!!! US COLLEGE PLAYERS ARE ALL PRETTY TALL… SO WHAT WERE U SAYING AB IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HUMAN PHYSIQUE??? ppl of 190plus play centre in singapore about ppl of that height in US plays says forward. rly.. nth much to compare. ppl like russell had to compete with 211m ppl frm US. have u watched the yog games. sg do send their best players and they aint that bad as u say.
i do watch the yog games,my boys sterling and angelo are playing, how can I miss it?look man,if u know whose my boy isiah thomas from university of washington,my boy is only a 5’7 and he can posterize people.kemba walker?well u dont know what ya talkin about bruh.is sad dawg.i aint telling your “taller” and “better” players to play post, they can maybe, play the 3?
lmao no offense,i never heard of singapore before this,so tell me where do ya’ll send your better players?lmao smh, china?haha.funny people.
Haha, it’s true that we can’t compare, I did see other countries’ basketball and they are really good. I do admit that but since we Singaporeans like it, then I am sure it will be fine. Actually, Delvin did not choose to use his height against shorter players, he is above average height in Singapore and for his age, there isn’t much players around his height, thus for you to say this, is quite unreasonable. But it’s alright, I will be looking forward to see West Virginia getting champion. Please tell me if you really mention this conversation, I should be honored if my conversation get mentioned. =)
Haix, Singapore’s basketball lacks much physicality. Compared to Asian, it’s not even good, compared to the U.S. it’s an egg compared to a stone
lol ok no offence ya’ll great aight.haha.if i’m in sg right now,i’ma jump over ya’ll.just sayin.
lol cmon dude,i aint hiding behind no keyboards.if ur a bball player,u’ll know that delvin guy can’t even post properly.lol joke.
COMMENT PARTIALLY EDITED FOR LANGUAGE
Hey Les,
Why there isn’t report on Basketball All-STAR Girls team. East Zone girls emerged top. North Second followed by West and South. Any videos or pictures for sharing. Thanks.
Hi. I wasn’t there and I haven’t received any videos or photos about the all-star girls’ games.
Hey darryl, are you a basketballer, if you are not, i don’t think you have any rights to comment and if you are, you are contributing to the lousy singapore basketball standard as well.
darryl who do you think you are to say that?
delvin and the standard of singapore bball…
if you think you’re good, you can play 1 to 1 with him and singapore bball don,t hide behind keyboard and talk big
