Friday, March 25th, 2011 — Results this week have determined the final four for the semi-finals of the B Division Rugby Championship.
St Joseph’s Institution beat Greenridge 12-5 earlier this week on Monday March 21 to ensure that they grabbed fourth place in Group A. Only the top four qualify for the semi-finals.
SJI will face powerhouses Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) in the semi-finals. ACS(I) have sealed top spot in the group with an unbeaten 7-0 win-loss record while SJI finished the first round with a 3-1-3 record.
In a game played today, Friday, March 25, St Andrew’s Secondary beat Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) 46-0 to lock up second place in the group. The Saints, who finish the first round with a 6-1 win-loss record, will again take on the ACS (Barker Road) boys who finish their season with a 4-1-2 record.
Raffles Institution (5th; 2-2-3), Greenridge (6th; 2-5), Pioneer and Junyuan Secondary, the bottom four teams of Group A, will now face the top two of Groups B and C in the Plate quarter-final knockout round. Evergreen Secondary (4-0) topped Group B with Damai Secondary (3-1) finishing second to them. In Group C, Admiralty finished top (3-0) with Unity Secondary second (2-1).
The team that can make it through all the way to the final and win will capture the Plate championship. The losing team in this knockout stage will play in a round-robin bowl competition that has been set up to give the schools more rugby playing time.
The first semi-final between ACS(I) and SJI will kick off at 3.15pm on Thursday, March 31st, at CCAB, That game will be followed by the second semi-final between ACS(BR) and St Andrew’s Secondary.

I am the Coach of GSS and also a ex-International Rugb y ref.The Touch judge was correct when he reported the late charge incident to the referee. He was not bias.I think the referee should yellow card the GSS player. Bt he didn,t. I have shown the video to the GSS team the incident and explained to them the role of the TJ.SJI wonthe game because they were more hungrier than GSS on that day. GSS lost because they were not playing as a team and making silly mistake. Thats all. Good luck to SJI
