B Division Boys’ Volleyball: St Hilda’s beat Punggol 3-1 to claim title

Toa Payoh Sports Hall, Wednesday, April 6, 2011 — Experience. That was the vital ingredient St Hilda’s Secondary relied on to beat Punggol 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-23) in an enthralling final of the National B Division Boys’ Volleyball Championship.

Both teams fought as hard as they could but strong spikes, blocking and receiving from the St Hilda’s team allowed them to prevail and eventually seize the match.

Punggol also had a height disadvantage, relying only on Kingsley Tay for their blocks.

Both teams also met in last year’s B Division final with St Hilda’s also winning the title. Punggol failed to take revenge as St Hilda’s were too strong for them.
