Shuqun Secondary, Friday, April 29, 2011 — Hong Kah Secondary produced a scintillating performance when they trounced Regent Secondary 5-0 in the West Zone C Division Football Championship Final.
Hong Kah had beaten Dunearn Secondary 4-1 in one semi-final while while Regent disposed of defending champions Jurongville Secondary by 3-0 in the other.
The match was delayed by half an hour due to inclement weather but once the referee blew for kickoff, the Hong Kah boys dominated proceedings from start to end. Regent’s players seems to be rattled by the noisy and boisterous support from the Hong Kah supporters which included a drum ensemble racking up the decibels.
Hong Kah’s dominance was evident as they raced to a 2-0 lead by half-time with the Regent goalkeeper making some crucial saves to keep the score own.
Hong Kah Secondary, coached by Mr Zainudeen, displayed fluidity and cohesion in their play, ably led by elegant playmaker and captain Muzakir. Meanwhile Regent, coached by former Singapore international D Tokijan, fought hard but just did not have the quality to really trouble the Hong Kah defence.
Hong Kah added three more goals in the 2nd half to justify their dominance of the game.
