Clementi Sports Hall, Wednesday, August 17, 2011 — Dunman Secondary led from start to finish to defeat Jurong Secondary 63-40 in the 3rd/4th placing match of the National C Division Boys’ Basketball Championship. Jurong had managed to keep the score close in the second half and came close to narrowing the lead, but a fourth quarter surge by Dunman allowed the 2010 runners-up to end with a decisive victory.
Having lost out on a place in the final by one point against Unity Secondary in the semi-final, Dunman were eager to end their season with a win. Right from the tip-off, the Dunman #8 made the first attempt for his team, only to see his shot bounce harmlessly off the rim.
Dunman #14 drew first blood for the team when he broke through the Jurong defense to score. Despite drawing a foul from Jurong along the way, he failed to convert his two free throws. Two minutes into the game, Jurong scored their first points via a shot from Chong Yih Xuan (Jurong #14), but not before seeing Dunman having already established a four-point lead over them.

Dunman started the second quarter on an aggressive note as well. The Dunman #11 made his presence felt as he continuously posed a threat to the Jurong defense. Jurong were also not going to be overrun easy and stepped up their game.
There were several good interceptions and steals from both teams as each tried to outwit the other. Jurong however, were committing several fouls to give Dunman many opportunities at the charity stripe.
With one minute left in the quarter, Dunman were leading 25-15 when Tan Aik (Jurong #15) caught a rebound and converted to narrow the deficit to eight points. Lee Jia Hui (Jurong #5) then managed to intercept the ball and sprinted down the full length of the court to set up for Sim Jia Hao (Jurong #12).
However, Dunman responded with two points of their own and led 27-19 at the break.
Jurong started off the third quarter attempting to close in on Dunman. A layup by Liew Jun Heng (Jurong #9) in the first minute followed by a three-pointer from Loke Yong Lum (Jurong #13) saw Jurong pull within three points of Dunman to trail 24-27.
However, that was as close as Jurong could get as Dunman held on to their lead and pulled away towards the end of the third quarter.
Dunman went on a scoring streak in the fourth quarter and had a comfortable 61-38 lead with one minute to go. Despite there being almost no chance of equalising, Jurong continued the fight, with Tan Aik (Jurong #15) putting in two points for the team with 12 seconds left on the clock.
The Dunman #13 then managed to draw a foul, converting both his free throws for his team to finish 63-40 winners.
