Chua Chu Kang Stadium, Monday, October 10, 2011 — The Singapore Under-23s football team beat Thailand U-23s 3-2 with a last-minute goal from substitute Shahfiq Ghani.

The Young Lions led 2-1 at half-time through a first-minute goal by Hafiz Sujad and a second from Fazli Ayob in the 41st minute after Thailand had equalised.

Thai captain Ronnachai Rangsiyo made it 2-2 in the 70th minute and the game was headed for a draw before Shahfiq’s 91st-minute goal.

The U-23 squad will be playing in the upcoming November SEA Games in Jakarta, Indonesia. The SEA Games squad should include national seniors Hariss Harun, Safuwan Baharudin and Khairul Nizam who have been included in the squad to face Jordan in the World Cup qualifiers.
