Anne Qi Hui makes it 3 in a row as fastest female Singaporean marathoner

Padang, Sunday, December 4, 2011 — Anne Qi Hui crossed the line as the fastest Singaporean at the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore this morning for the third year running.

Anne clocked 3:06:20.25, improving on her 2010 time of 3:12:24. She finished 14 minutes ahead of Elaine Lim Su Lin (3:20:07.49). Angie Tan was third in 3:24:38.25. Anne’s time was also good enough for an eighth-place finish in the open category.

Anne, who has a personal best of 2 hours 50 minutes for the event set at the 2008 Berlin Marathon, represented Singapore in the marathon at the recent SEA Games but was forced to pull out because of heat exhaustion at the 39km mark.

Said Anne: “I have been looking forward to this race the entire year. I really enjoyed the race. The organisation of this race is great. I feel like I have been well taken care of.”

Anne’s time was also good enough to place her eighth in the open category. Her 3:06.20 would have placed her eighth in the local men’s category.

The fastest Singaporean man was Mok Ying Ren who also claimed the accolade for the third year in a row.
