Xinmin Secondary, Wednesday, February 8, 2012 — Xinmin Secondary continued their winning streak as they notched their fourth victory in as many games in the North Zone B Division Boys’ Volleyball Championship. Despite a shaky start, they managed to beat Sembawang Secondary 2-0 (25-19, 25-17) to lie in second spot in the group standings with one game in hand.
Xinmin started the match neck and neck with Sembawang. After managing to pull ahead to lead 14-11, they let slip their slim advantage to allow Sembawang to close in again. Sembawang managed to steal a lead but it lasted momentarily as Xinmin quickly took back control to blitz ahead to win the first set.
The second set was a similar situation as Xinmin got off to a slow start due to errors. Sembawang pulled ahead to lead 12-8, only for Xinmin to make a come back. After leveling the score 14-14, Xinmin turned the tables on Sembawang after a spike by the latter went out of bounds.
Xinmin quickly established their dominance and raced ahead. Despite a timeout by Sembawang, it could not break Xinmin’s momentum as the defending champions took the second set 25-17.
