The release of the groupings for the National B Division Volleyball Championships will see several schools face a tough draw, particularly after shock results at the zonal competition.
In the Boys’ draw, Group A would likely see the toughest competition as West Zone champions Shuqun Secondary are drawn together with Yishun Town Secondary, Catholic High and Victoria School. Catholic High, who suffered a shock defeat to Fairfield Methodist in the South Zone semi-finals, will need to play at their very best in order to qualify for the next round.
In the Girls’ draw, Groups B and C will be the groups to watch. North Zone champions Xinmin Secondary are drawn alongside Ngee Ann Secondary, Shuqun Secondary and Ang Mo Kio Secondary. Having lost their West Zone title this year, Shuqun would certainly be going all out to fight for one of the two qualification spots at stake.
Group C will probably see the closest games for the girls’ competition. South Zone Champions Cedar Girls’ Secondary are drawn with Presbyterian High, St Hilda’s Secondary and Hua Yi Secondary. Though Hua Yi are ranked fourth in the group, they have been known to give their competitors a hard fight and may be capable of pulling off an upset in the group.
The competition will start on Friday. All matches will be played at Presbyterian High School and CCAB.
