Jakarta, Saturday, February 25, 2012 — The Singapore Slingers got hunted down by the Indonesia Warriors again as they went down 57-65 for their fourth straight loss in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).
The Slingers also suffered at the hands of the Warriors at home on opening day in January, going down 59-79.
Warrior Mario Wuysang, who scored 23 points then, was again the chief tormentor of the Slingers, this time scoring 21 points. Steven Thomas also came up big for the Warriors when he recorded his seventh double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
The Slingers were led by Donald Little who finished with 20 points while Louis Graham added 15. Graham struggled with his shots, as he was only 7-of-25 from the field. Slinger Lim Sheng Yu had nine points to finish as the highest scoring Singaporean on the team.
The Warriors held a 32-24 lead at half time but then had to contend with the Slingers as they made their run early in the third quarter. A three point shot by Don Dulay and a jump shot by Louis Graham tied the game at 32-32 with 7:53 remaining in the third. Little was on a roll in this quarter with 12 points and both teams were tied up at 47 going into the final quarter.
The Warriors made 6-0 run in the final quarter after Thomas, Cañada, and Wuysang made a basket to help stretch the Warriors lead to 63-53 with 2:58 left in the game. Any hopes of a Slingers comeback disappeared as they turned over the ball three times in the last two minutes of the game.
The Warriors out-rebounded the Slingers 52-29 and now have a 4-4 win-loss record.
The Slingers drop to 4-5 and will now have a 10-day break before trying to snap their four-game losing streak against the Saigon Heat at home on Wednesday, March 7th.
