Dubai, Saturday, February 25, 2012 — Singapore’s Remy Ong finished second behind top seed, Kim Bolleby of Sweden in the stepladder title match at the 3rd Dubai International Open.
To get to that point, Remy had to first beat three other players. He first beat number five seed, Biboy Rivera of the Philippines and then followed that up with a win over number three seed, Peter Ljung of Sweden.
That got him a match up with number two seed, Perttu Jussila of Finland, and Remy beat him 207-180 to set up the final with Bolleby.
It was a close final with Remy taking the lead by mid game. However, due to a critical miss in his eighth frame, Bolleby was able to take the lead and win 245-220 to take home the title.
Remy took home a winning prize of AED30,000 (approximately S$10,200).
“i was so confident after I had won two matches,” said Remy after the match. “And when I started off with four strikes in a row and then had a double in the sixth and seventh frames, I thought I had a good chance to taking the match into the second game.”
