Singapore Basketball Centre, Wednesday, February 22, 2012 — North Vista Secondary overcame the odds to beat Yishun Secondary 49-37 in Round 2 of the North Zone B Division Basketball Championship.
The win gave North Vista a 4-1 win-loss record and a place in the semi-finals of the championship.
Despite the loss, Yishun also qualified for the semi-finals along with North Vista because they did not lose by more than 15 points. Their 12-point loss to North Vista ensured they still qualified for the semi-finals even if Canberra Secondary won their final group game played later.
Both teams played a cautious first quarter as they sized each other up and North Vista took a slim two-point lead after two quarters.
After the half time break, Yishun just could not their shooting touch and North Vista surged forward to pull ahead further. North Vista’s speed and agility were just too much for Yishun to handle in the third quarter and North Vista extended their lead to a 11 points.
It was too big a mountain for Yishun to climb in the fourth quarter as they could not reduce the deficit.

North View vs Canberra
Canberra Secondary beat North View Secondary 54-21 but their win was rendered meaningless after the earlier result between North Vista and Yishun.
Although they won the game, the emotions on the players’ faces showed their disappointment of being unable to reach the semi-finals.
Despite that, they still played their hearts out in their final game of the championship. They did not give North View a easy time and put up a show for their coach to be proud of.
Yishun, Canberra and North Vista all had identical 4-1 win-loss records but only Yishun and North Vista advance based on the points differential between the three teams in their head-to-head games.
