Bedok Reservoir, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 — Chloe Wang of Raffles Girls’ School crossed the finish line of the 3.6km route in 14 minutes 35.10 seconds to win the C Division category at the 53rd National Schools Cross-Country Championships.
Chloe, who is also a swimmer for her school, was 17 seconds faster than second-place Nah Yi Xin of Cedar Girls’ Secondary who clocked 14:52.48. Jillian See of Chung Cheng High School (Main) was third in 15:02.26.
The team title, though, went to River Valley High. River Valley won their second C Division title in three years thanks to the strong running of Valarie Lai (4th), Crystabelle Wang (7th), Carissa Choo (15th) and Toh Wei Wei (17th). Their 43-point total was five better than RGS’ total of 48.
Besides Chloe’s first-place, RGS also had Angelina Lim (6th), Felyn Toh (19th) and Faye Chiang (22nd) contributing to their team’s silver medal win.
Defending champions Cedar Girls’ were third. Nah Yi Xin (2nd), Tang Kai Qi (5th), Hilary Soo (18th) and B. Lochana (24th) accumulated 49 points to just miss out on second place by one point.
The Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary quartet of Nur Atiqah Bte Hassan (11th), Nur Wirdani Bte Azhari (12th), Jalyn Xie (21st) and Chan Kar Yan (48th) were fourth with 92 points.
