Singapore Indoor Stadium, Sunday, March 25, 2012 — The Singapore Slingers went down 70-82 to the visiting Philippine Patriots in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).
After breaking their seven-game losing skid with a 77-70 win over the Thailand Slammers in their previous game, the Slingers fell back again to a Patriots team that extended their winning streak to four games.
The Slingers drop to a 5-9 win-loss record and look in danger of missing out on a playoff spot. Only the top four in the table qualify for the playoffs. The Patriots lead the standings with a 11-2 record.
The Slingers bench struggled to deliver as they were outscored 24-11 by a superior Patriots bench. The Slingers shot only 35% with the Patriots leading by as many as 15 points at one point in the game.
Louis Graham, who had a good game for the Slingers against the Slammers last weekend, struggled in the first half, shooting 1-of-6 for only four points at the break. Graham picked it up in the second to finish with 19.
Kyle Jeffers also finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds in his second game back with the Slingers.
The Patriots were led by Anthony Johnson who had a game-high 23 points while Nakiea Miller had 22 points and 15 rebounds. Former Slinger, Al Vergara, finished with 13 points off the bench.
The Slingers next play the Malaysia Dragons at home on Sunday, April 1st.
