Clementi Sports Hall, Friday, April 13, 2012 — It was a rematch of the North Zone final where Presbyterian High had lost by a sizeable 14-point (44-58) margin to North Vista Secondary. This match was a much closer affair but North Vista still emerged 41-34 victors in Round 2 of the National B Division Boys’ Basketball Championship.
The first half was a tight game with both teams exchanging shots without letting the other out of sight. The first quarter ended with Presbyterian High having a slight two-point, 13-11 edge over North Vista.
Presbyterian High looked confident heading into the second quarter but North Vista came back out battling and contesting for every point. North Vista managed to take a slim one-point 21-20 lead to end the half.
Presbyterian High came back strong after the half time break by establishing a lead of their own. They were dominant for the whole of the third quarter as they grabbed many rebounds and put them back in for second chance points to lead 32-28 going into the fourth quarter.
Unfortunately for Presbyterian High, the final quarter was a repeat of what happened in the North Zone final with North Vista claiming the fourth. They only allowed Presbyterian High to net a basket with a strong defence pulled away to win the game 41-34 with a 13-2 fourth-quarter performance.
North Vista captain Myron Lim lead the way with a team high of 12 points and Jang Wook of Presbyterian High had a game-high 18 points.
North Vista now sit behind group leaders Unity based on points difference. Unity have a +30 points difference after beating Anglican High 60-54 in the other group match while North Vista are +26. Both teams are guaranteed a semi-final spot after having won both their Round 2 group games so far.
