Stadium Sultan Ismail, Kuala Terengganu, Tuesday, June 19, 2012 — The Singapore LionsXII recorded an impressive 1-0 away win over Terengganu in the Malaysian Super League (MSL).
Sufian Anuar proved to be the difference between both sides as he scored in injury time to snatch all three points for LionsXII.
This priceless away win keeps LionsXII six points ahead of Kelantan who won their away match against KL 1-0 although Kelantan have played five games less.
Despite hammering Sabah 9-0 in their last league match, LionsXII did not enter this match as favorites because they had still to beat Terengganu in three meetings this season.
The fourth-placed team in the MSL has never been easy opposition and they proved to be difficult to break down at their home ground. Before today, Terengganu had an impressive unbeaten home record that stretched for nine league games.
The game looked like it was headed for a draw, until substitutes Safirul combined with Sufian who skipped past two players before firing into the bottom corner.
LionsXII will next play Perak at home on Saturday, June 30th.
