Hong Kah Secondary powered their way into the record books when both their B and C Division boys teams qualified for the semi-finals of the National Schools Football Championships.

The B Division team qualified for the semi-finals after overcoming Tanjong Katong Secondary 4-1, Woodlands Secondary 1-0 and drawing 2-2 with Seng Kang Secondary in the second round.

This earned them a semi-final face off against Serangoon Secondary.

Hong Kah’s B Division team will be spearheaded by National Football Academy U17 and Youth Olympic Games goalkeeper Hamzah Fazil and forward Firdaus Sham. Also in the team are 2012 Lion City Cup players, Zulfadhmi Suzliman and Iqram Rifqi.

Hong Kah’s C Division team qualified for the semi-finals in style after winning all their second round matches, defeating Serangoon Garden Secondary 2-0, Jurongville Secondary 1-0 and St Patrick’s School 2-1.

The C Division team are also ably led by the 2012 Lion City Cup trio of Kenji Rushdi, Danish and Haiqal Paisha. The team will lock horns with either Tanjong Katong, Singapore Sports School or Victoria in the semi-finals.

Hong Kah Secondary are on the brink of creating history as the first school to achieve a national top-four finish in all four divisions – B Division (Boys and Girls) and C Division (Boys and Girls).

This achievement will depend much on Hong Kah’s C Division girls team that can qualify for the National semis if they can overcome Queensway Secondary.

Hong Kah’s B Division girls team already secured a national top-four finish earlier in the year when they finished fourth.
